MARS is implemented in Maple, Matlab, and C and should be installable onto Macintosh, PC, or Unix Systems

- There are two MARS releases: one is a gnuzipped tar file for Unix
distribution and another is a WinZip file for PC distribution. The
MARS release should be installed into a directory called "MARS". After
unzipping the file, type MARS contains multiple subdirectories: C,
DOC, EXAMPLES, MAPLE, MATLAB, TEST.
- The MARS release is a compressed tarfile which you should install
in a directory called "MARS". After unzipping the file, type
MARS contains multiple subdirectories:
C, DOC, EXAMPLES, MAPLE, MATLAB, TEST.
- Running MARS/MAPLE Under Windows: Make a new shortcut for running
Maple and set the "Start in:" directory for this shortcut to "MARS\MAPLE"
- Running MARS/MATLAB Under Windows: After starting Matlab, type
cd("MARS/MATLAB") to change the working directory to MARS/MATLAB.
NOTE - you will need to install MATLAB's Symbolic Toolbox, and use MATLAB V5 or higher to use MARS in MATLAB

- Running MARS/C on Unix Machine: Install LAPACK and compile
lapack.a, blas.a, tmglib.a, and libf2c.a. Run GNU make on this
subdirectory
