Brief Biography:

 

Robert Launer is currently the (acting) associate director of the Mathematics Division and a program manager in the Computer & Information Sciences Division.  He received the B.S. degree in Mathematics in 1962 and the M.A. degree in Mathematics in 1964 from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Ph.D. in Statistics in 1970 from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

 

He became a Fellow of American Statistical Association in 1986, received Commanders Award for Meritorious Service in 1988, and Army Wilks Award in 1998.  His personal research interests are in the areas of life testing, linear statistical models, Bayesian statistics, and modeling for statistical analysis.
