Wesley Snyder

Wesley Snyder received his BS
from North Carolina State
University, and his MS and PhD
degrees from the University of Illinois.
He has been on the faculty of the Electrical and Computer Engineering
Department of North Carolina State University since 1976 where he has served as
assistant, associate, and full professor. On leaves of absence, he has worked as a visiting scientists for the German Space Agency, DLR,
and as a professor of Radiology at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine.
He has served the IEEE in a
number of roles, including the founding committees of both the IEEE Robotics and Automation
Society and the IEEE Neural Networks Council, as well as chairing numerous
conferences.
In1993, Dr. Snyder was presented the award of IEEE Outstanding Engineering Educator
for the state of North Carolina
by the North Carolina Council of IEEE Sections.
He has directed the theses of 36
MS and PhD students and has over a hundred publications in scientific

For the past several years, Dr.
Snyder has been sharing his time between North
Carolina State University
and the U.S. Army Research Office, where he assists in the administration of
the Army's basic research funding program.

Dr. Snyder has three children and
has just completed four years as a volunteer paramedic.
