I’ve been working through this problem on StackOverflow (my favorite Q&A website for programming), and you can find my question there.
I couldn’t get the Facebook API to work quite the way I wanted it to. All I wanted it to do was return my current Facebook status, but it would only do it if 1) I was logged in to Facebook and 2) I was logged in as myself or a friend of myself. I couldn’t get any sort of offline_access permission to work, and perhaps I wasn’t looking in the right place.
Instead I went with the RSS feed route. And you can too by following these few steps:
- Get your Facebook status RSS feed here: http://www.new.facebook.com/minifeed.php?filter=11
- Download a PHP function program called StatusPress (meant for Wordpress, but can be used in general). Edit this function to your needs, as it is it gives a list of your most recent statuses with a timestamp included for each one.
I’m 22 years old today!
- I was born at Forsyth Hospital at 11:53 am on a Sunday. I weighed 8 lbs and 11ozs. I was 21 and a half inches long.
- My mom was at the hospital at 11:00 am. She had me less than an hour later!
- My dad was the first person to hold me. I also have his middle name of Lee.
- I came home Christmas eve. I was mom’s Christmas present that year!
- Winter solstice usually falls on my birthday. It happens to do so this year at 12:04, or so Wikipedia says.
- Therefore my birthday is usually the shortest day of the year.
- The end of the world will be in four years, on my 26th birthday, on December 21, 2012. Why? The Mayan calendar ends.
- In 1968, Apollo 8 became the first manned shuttle to escape Earth’s gravitational field and later orbit the moon
- I supposedly share a birthday with Joseph Stalin, however, he might have been born on December 18 and changed it to the 21.
- Samuel L. Jackson and I are going to have a drink together. Can you believe he is now 60???
- Actually, to be honest, I haven’t had a single alcoholic beverage yet. Drinks are overrated.
- Other facts can be found here.
Hello all, doing some website theme changes, so don’t worry if everything gets broken!
Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »Just a quick note, you can check out my 3D Tetris program here. Just unzip all of the files in the same folder and run the .exe. It should run on any computer that has a half decent video card that can run OpenGL.
You can see my other classmates projects here, but most of them are not compiled. There are some really cool ones, whenever I’m done with exams I’ll see if I can get a few of them running.
I’m done with 3 exams (Beethoven, E. Europe and just finished Computer Graphics). All I have left is Holocaust at 8am tomorrow. Wish me luck!
And as always, the site will be temporarily down as I move from school to home for winter break. And hopefully, if I have enough time, I plan on doing a revamp of this thing since I haven’t been treating it very well lately with lack of posts and effort.
Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »Hello all,
I finally managed to get a backup running. I was able to restore my desktop to the end of September, and the website to the beginning of November. So anything I had posted in November (was there anything??) is gone. Actually it isn’t. I had one post in November, and Google reader cached it. So I’ll re-post that.
I wish I had time to write more, but it is finals time! I must get to studying!

I voted! Via absentee, but I voted none-the-less. And I hope
you’ll vote too. There isn’t much time left… So go out and do your
most important obligation to your country.
I’ve still been very busy. November is going to be even worse. Things left to do in this month alone:
- Graphics final project (3D Tetris)
- Holocaust Research Paper
- Eastern Europe paper
- Beethoven presentation and paper
I’m right now finishing up my final midterms. I had one in Holocaust Thursday, Beethoven Friday, and Eastern Europe tomorrow.
I also recently finished up my ray tracer for Graphics. Whenever I
get the time I’ll try and share how these graphics programs work, they
are very interesting and difficult. My final project is going to take
forever to do, but I only have a month to work on it.
I miss hanging out with my friends at school. I hardly ever see any of them as much as I used to do. It sucks. A lot.
But at least I have the wonderful Rebekah to keep me company.
My 3rd graphics assignment is finally done, “passed off”, and e-mailed in. I’ll try and have some screenshots up of what the hell I’ve been doing in this class. It is really nifty, but the time to get it working right has been extreme. But I blame myself for waiting so late to getting started on it… except for the fact that I’ve had a million things to do in the past couple of weeks.
I also had a Beethoven exam yesterday. I think it went about the same or better than the last one.
So Miami. That was a great senior trip and was well worth the wait of 4 years to get to go. We stayed in a really, really nice hotel right on the ocean. However, we weren’t actually in Miami (I think to not have given us any temptations…) and it was quite a walk to actually get anywhere nearby to eat. But the beach and ocean was great. I haven’t been to the beach in at least a couple of years… so that was really nice. The game itself was amazing. The last minute of the game is what made and nearly broke it. Fuchs told us to not think of the trip a vacation… but it most certainly was! We nearly forgot about that “obligation” of a football game we had to go to….
Well, now I get to play catch up in my history classes. I’m behind about 2 books in one history class and 1 book in another. I’m going to try and knock all of this down in the next few days before Fall Break starts… I’ll also have my last program assignment to do over Fall Break and a paper. Not much of a break, eh? I still need to come up with a final project idea for my graphics class. I’m thinking about a 3d version of Tetris. Maybe instead of clearing a line, you need a clear a plane of blocks. We’ll see….
Oh, and Tuesday was one month with Rebekah. Time really flies…

Miami pictures — part 1 and part 2.
And some adorable pictures of Rebekah and I.
Please note these are the exactly same pictures as the ones on Facebook.
More things to come soon!

I plan on dropping one of the three histories that I like the least. Family and Society is taught by the same professor that I had for Aging. And the only comp class is the last one I need to finish my major!
No more registering for classes after this…..
